Washing back to shore with the last of a strong evening breeze, muscles aching from way too much time hanging on to the control bar of my kite. The scorching heat of the day has dissipated and now the splash of the water chills the skin. As I look to the West the last rays of the setting sun sparkle thru the tops of the waves lapping onto the shore. A calm slides over me an I feel true contentment. No matter what happens during the day, an evening like this brings out the true beauty in life.

Just Kids Flying Kites

It is starting to warm up in North Texas, the crowds at the lake are getting bigger. Thought I would post a few pictures of Mike Jones and Jonathan Grantham kite surfing. Mike has gotten the ollie airs down and Jonathan really knows how to throw his weight around. Not to say he is fat, just a really big guy at 6'5" so he can really pull on a kite.
Seeing the pictures makes me really want to be somewhere with warm water and steady winds, but sometimes you just take what you can get (and let those teeth chatter)!

Frozen Toes

When it is the middle of summer, a 100 degrees and my brain is frying. There is not even a whisper of wind and the sun is burning everything to a crisp, withered stalk I need to remember days like Monday in December.
Seventy five degrees, a nice breeze blowing and my toes are freezing even with a 5 mil wetsuit on. That is when I actually get to go ride my kite board.
I saw this from a slightly different perspective since my buddy Guy Witherspoon was shooting and I was the one getting the frozen toes and dizzy from all the spinning.

Chasing Hurricanes

When you live in Texas it can be a little arduous to get a good day of surfing in, and even more difficult to luck into all the forces to work together to make a stellar day of wave sailing come together. In the summer, as everyone living along the gulf coast dread the arrival of hurricanes, surfers look forward to them. They always come at times that are not convenient for the schedule, so you always have to drop everything and run at a moments notice.
I made the commitment to chase some swell as hurricane Alex approached the Texas coast and lucked out with a gorgeous day of surfing, kiteboarding and topped it off with an epic session of windsurfing in some of the nicest and biggest waves I have seen along that section of coastline. The fact that all the directions worked perfectly still takes my breath away.

Board Shorts

Ahhh! Temperatures are in the 80's, the wind is blowing a little. Perfect to get to the lake and do some kiteboarding. Guy, Justin, Mike and Jordan met at Benbrook Lake near Fort Worth, Texas for a session of big jumps, spins, flips and rolls.
Have to take advantage of the conditions before the summer doldrums show up and put an end to all the fun.
